Something borrowed, something blue

Last week, I gave you a colourful collection of vintage imagery, with the theme being yellow.
In keeping with this trend I'd like to share some more images, this week with the feature colour of blue!

Blue is a colour I might wear on occasion, I have a few gorgeous spring / summer dresses and a lot of my beach wear is based around the resort style very GC look... which just happens to be a great way to experiment with blue and also greens along with my much loved monotones... but that's another post.

For now, I hope you enjoy this little collection.

Next Sunday, I am hoping to feature the gorgeous green numbers floating around on the internet...

Friday Fashion Feature

This week I was flipping through the May/June edition of Frankie Magazine and then looking up the products they feature in the front few pages... I came across Japonica’s ‘Traveller Necklace’ feature and it was love at first sight.

Bit of a background of the brand... Japonica, was named after the Japanese wild flower and symbolizes purity, wilderness, hope and freedom. This stunning little shop sells necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings online as well as at markets in Japan. Although I’m not usually a fan of costume jewellery, Japonica’s quaint, vintage styled pieces really appeal to me and I think I might place an order...

Prices range from $18 upwards so they're rather a bargain!

A vote of confidence, short hair is hot

Up until late last year, I had rather long hair, which was frustratingly heavy, so I cut bangs in.

Brunette bang days
Ultra cute bob with bangs

Bangs were an awesome idea - except that they had to be maintained on a weekly basis to keep the length right & straightened & blow-dried daily. Not only was my hair ultra long, but it's very thick, so my head would ache if I left it up too long and I used 2 sets of hot rollers to get all the hair in... just. It got to be a little bit frustrating.

After a few months of deliberating & tossing up the pro's & con's of various hairstyles, I figured why should I make a mild change (i.e. chop off a few inches), when I can start afresh with a whole new look. Alas, a trip to the hairdresser was booked & I left the salon with a bob & bangs. Delightful change!
It looks pretty awesome but I've recently been second guessing my decision to go short with my hair.
I miss my long locks but enjoy the freedom of not having to think of new ways to put up my hair, in fact my current style requires little to no styling or maintenance. The standard bob has now morphed into more of a concave style to prevent that mid-length awkwardness but my patience is thin & there's nothing to be done to excelerate the growth either.

Is it really as sexy as long hair? I'm not sure... so I found a collection of images that reinforces my confidence that short hair most certainly can be feminine & sexy, please enjoy!

And they were all yellow.

Well! It has been a good while in between posts, must get wifi or cut my working hours! It's been a very hectic few weeks and I'll make a big effort to catch up on my blogging... lots in the memory bank to share.

Among my favourite things to collect is vintage imagery. Not only hard copies like magazines, patterns, photographs, flyers etc, but soft copies as well. Hard copies are fun to hunt down on eBay or in opp shops, but the web has vaults worth of oh-too-cute pictures just waiting to be drooled over. There are currently a few USB's sitting on my desk with a few thousand images from all over the place; Vogue magazine covers, McCall's advertisements and personal snapshots. I've had the urge to share a few fabulous vintage images I've either found in the treasure trove of the Internet or scanned onto my computer from magazines & books - so I will be doing so over the next few weeks.

My theme today is yellow, and the scanned images were found online. I think they're cute as a button, and whilst yellow is a colour that doesn't feature in my wardrobe, I'd surely love to own a fitted golden trench coat (last image).

Enjoy!
